Types of Braces
Braces move teeth the same way they always have: brackets bonded to each tooth, a wire connecting them, and small adjustments over time that move teeth into position. What has changed is how they look and feel. Brackets are smaller and smoother than the ones you remember, the wires are gentler, and appointments are shorter.
At Gamblin Orthodontics, we offer two kinds: traditional metal and clear ceramic, and both are available at our Ridgeland and Hazlehurst offices. Which one is right for you comes down to how visible you want treatment to be and what your budget looks like. Both correct the same range of problems: crowding, spacing, crossbites, overbites and underbites, and teeth that never quite came in where they should have.
Dr. Gamblin walks you through both options at your free consult, along with a realistic timeline and the exact fee, before you commit to anything. Most patients finish in 12 to 24 months. Treatment starts with 10% down, and the balance is paid interest-free, in-house, so the cost is spread across the months you are already coming in.
You will see us roughly every six to eight weeks for adjustments, and those visits are short. Between appointments, the work is brushing carefully around the brackets, staying off the hard and sticky foods, and wearing your elastics if you have them. Patients who do those three things finish on schedule.
Traditional Metal
Metal braces handle every kind of case, from mild crowding to bites that need significant correction, and they are the most affordable option we offer. Kids and teens pick new colored elastic ties at every adjustment, which turns a routine appointment into something to look forward to. They are durable, they do not depend on anyone remembering to wear something, and they work around the clock without any cooperation required.
Ceramic
Ceramic brackets work exactly like metal ones, but they are made from a tooth-colored material that blends against your enamel instead of standing out in photos. Teens and adults who want reliable fixed treatment without a mouth full of silver usually choose these. They need a little more care with staining foods and drinks, and Dr. Gamblin will tell you honestly whether your case is a good fit for them.

Braces For Kids
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first orthodontic check by age 7. That is not because most seven-year-olds need braces; it is because that is when we can see how the permanent teeth and the jaw are coming in while there is still growth left to work with. A crossbite, a narrow arch, crowding, or a habit that is shifting the bite is far easier to correct at eight than at fifteen.
Catching those things early often means simpler treatment later, and sometimes it means no treatment at all for a while. If your child is not ready, we will tell you so and check back as they grow at no cost. We would rather watch for two years than start braces a year too soon.
When treatment is the right call, we keep it as easy on your family as possible. Appointments are explained to your child before anything happens, questions are welcome, and the office stays relaxed instead of clinical. Colored ties let them make the braces theirs, which does more for cooperation than any lecture from us.
A first visit here is free, and you will leave knowing exactly where your child stands, whether anything needs doing now, and what it would cost if it does. Both offices see kids, and we have convenient appointment times that fit your schedule.

Braces For Teens
Teenagers are the most common braces patients we see, and they are also the busiest people in the family. Between school, sports, band, and jobs, treatment has to fit around real life rather than the other way around. Fixed braces do that well, because they keep working whether or not anyone remembers to put something in at night.
Metal and ceramic both hold up to a full schedule. Athletes get a mouthguard conversation before their season starts, and if a bracket comes loose at a game on Friday, we want the call so we can get it fixed before it slows the whole plan down. Most repairs are quick.
We schedule around school calendars where we can, and we keep adjustment visits short. We also talk directly to the teen, not only the parent. Patients who understand why we are doing what we are doing take better care of their braces, wear their elastics, and finish faster. That is not a sales line; it is the single biggest variable in how long treatment takes.
Same-day starts mean a teen can leave their free consult already in treatment instead of waiting for another appointment weeks out. Financing starts at 10% down and is interest-free after that, so the fee lands in monthly pieces rather than all at once.

Braces For Adults
Plenty of our patients are adults who never had treatment as kids, or who had braces years ago and watched their teeth drift back after the retainer went in a drawer. Teeth do not stop moving at a certain age, which is exactly why treatment still works for adults and also why it is worth doing now rather than in five years.
Crowding tends to get worse with time, and crowded teeth are harder to clean, which turns a cosmetic annoyance into a gum and decay problem. Fixing the alignment makes daily brushing and flossing actually effective, and it takes pressure off teeth that have been carrying more of your bite than they should.
Ceramic braces are the popular pick for adults who spend the day in front of people, and clear aligners are worth comparing at your consult if removable treatment fits your life better. Dr. Gamblin will give you a straight read on which option suits your case instead of steering you toward whichever one sounds more impressive.
The practical questions get answered up front: what it costs, how long it takes, and how you pay for it. Treatment starts with 10% down and interest-free in-house payments, so there is no outside financing to apply for, and we file claims for your out-of-network benefits, so you use whatever coverage you have.
